An Overview Of DMV Now Services

Virginia residents unable to visit the DMVNow VA can take advantage of DMV Connect, an outreach program. There are 14 liaison teams in the DMV, located in Richmond (3 teams), Franconia, Fredericksburg, Tyson’s Corner, Newport News, Harrisonburg, Sterling, Manassas, Leesburg, Westfields, and Roanoke (2 teams).

The program was originally created to provide identity cards to inmates awaiting release since their identity is required to obtain jobs, open bank accounts, enter public buildings, and apply for benefits. Besides serving inmates, DMV Connect also provides services to nursing homes, government centers, homeless shelters, and other organizations.

All of the necessary equipment fits into a suitcase because of technological advancements. Therefore, DMV Connect teams provide you with a simple service. Besides records and marital status records, DMV Connect teams can process any DMVNow transaction, including REAL ID.

Employees at the DMVNow VA use personalized blankets with laptops, cameras, and laptops. In addition to their own team, each team sends their own member. To process real-time transactions safely, computers only need power and an internet connection. DMV Now services also include services such as practice tests through the DMVNow Practice Test option. DMVNow Virginia Vehicle Registration Renewal Guide

Renewal of the registration of a vehicle can be completed online with little effort by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Road and highway upkeep and construction require renewal fees, which are essential resources for the state. Several weeks before your registration expires, you will receive a renewal notice. You will find the following information on your DMV renewal notice:

  • The date of your registration renewal.
  • The renewal fee for your registration.
  • Check the status of your emissions testing.

In most cases, renewal notices are mailed, so if you moved recently, update your address with the VA DMV. Even if you never received a renewal notice, you are still obligated to renew your plates before they expire. Additionally, the DMV offers electronic registration renewal notices. Register online or at your local DMV Customer Service Center to receive electronic notices. The following methods are available for renewing your registration:

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do we need a password?

Unauthorized people can’t access or change your DMV information if you use a password. To manage your DMV Now Login account and conduct designated password transactions, you will need your password. See Online Services for a complete listing of password transactions. To ensure your privacy, be sure to keep the password in a safe place and do not disclose it to anyone.

At the end of my transaction, what will I receive?

Upon completion of your transaction, you will receive a registration card and sticker, PNO acknowledgment, record, or printed receipt.

What if I forget my temporary PIN?

If you have forgotten your temporary PIN, you may request a new one by one of two methods:

  • Online access to your account is the most convenient way to obtain a password. In order to begin the process, you will need to enter your Customer Number and Date of Birth. You will be required to change your password after three years if you obtained your password through this process.
  • You can request a temporary PIN over the phone by calling DMV DIRECT at (804) 497-7100 (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to noon). If you do not activate this temporary PIN on the DMV website within 24 hours of issuance, it will expire. Whenever you visit the DMV website and select a transaction that requires a PIN, you will be asked to enter the DMV-assigned PIN. Next, you will be asked to change the temporary PIN to something you can remember. You will be able to conduct your transaction once you have completed these steps.
